"I am relatively young, but I wanted to try Restylane injections in my lips....The best part is that I love what I see in the mirror. People say "wow, you look great!", but not even my mom knows what I did because it looks so natural. I feel beautiful!"

Ottawa Restylane

As we age, soft tissue under the skin is reduced, resulting in a loss of plumpness and causing greater prominence of facial wrinkles and furrows.  Dermal fillers are materials that are placed into deeper lines and wrinkles, restoring volume and helping you to look fresher and more youthful.

Dermal fillers are typically used in the following areas:

                                -  Nasolabial Folds (smile lines)

                                -  Marionette Lines (the lines from the corners of the mouth down to the chin)

                                -  Adding volume and shape to the lips

                                -  Filling in the circles under the eyes (tear trough)

                                -  Adding volume other areas of the face, such as cheeks and jawline

The Kanata Skin Clinic offers its patients Restylane® and Juvederm™ dermal filler products.  These products are made under stringent controls and designed to provide long-lasting and natural enhancement.

Soft LiftTM

The use of Juvederm™ dermal filler injections are often combined with the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic to achieve an overall fresher and more youthful appearance in just one treatment.  The effects can often be quite dramatic, and yet they are subtle enough that nobody can tell what you've done.  They just think you look better, younger, refreshed.

FAQ's

How much does it cost?

The cost of the treatment depends on the amount of the product that is required and is measured by the number of syringes used. Typically, treatments start at $325 and up.

Does it hurt?

Dermal fillers are inserted under the skin by injection, and every injection hurts to some degree.  However, there are certain things that can be done to minimize the discomfort.  For example, applying ice or numbing cream, or using a dental block before the treatment can significantly reduce the discomfort.  Also, some dermal fillers now have lidocaine combined in their product, so the area is frozen as the product is injected.

The injector's skill and concern for the client's comfort can play a major role in the experience of the treatment. If you are concerned about the pain involved, make sure you take the time to find an injector who places a high priority on patient comfort.

What will I look like after the procedure?  Is there any downtime?

This depends on many factors, including what area(s) you had treated, how much product was used, and your own individual physiology.

Immediately after the procedure, there will be some swelling and redness in the area.  This will usually resolve within a day or two.  There may also be some bruising in the area, especially if you are someone who bruises easily.  This should resolve within a week.  Some people prefer to book appointments at the end of the week, so they can take the weekend off, if they wish to.

How long will it take to see the results?

You will see an improvement immediately after the procedure.  However, it usually takes about a week to see the final result.

Will people know that I've had something done?

That depends on the results you want to achieve and the skill of the injector.

Our goal at the Kanata Skin Clinic is to achieve results that look completely natural, so that when people look at you, they just see you - youthful, confident and refreshed.  Dr. Hegmann takes great care to achieve this effect, and he is continually taking courses to refine his skill and stay up-to-date on the most current techniques.
